What we collect
If you join the Scout List or send a correction or partnership enquiry, we receive what you type into that form. Those forms are handled by Netlify Forms, our hosting provider, and the submissions are stored in our Netlify account.
We ask for a first and last name and an email address. Postal address and phone number are optional, and only used if you have asked us to send you something physical.
The Tanoshi App waitlist
Joining the app waitlist collects your first name and email address, and optionally the interest you select. We use these to send development updates, early previews and a notification when the app becomes available, along with occasional Tanoshi Scout emails about Tokyo discoveries.
We also record which part of the site you signed up from, so we know what people find useful. Waitlist submissions are stored in our Netlify account alongside the other forms. You can unsubscribe from any email we send, and ask us to delete your record at any time.
Saved places and day plans
Places you save and day plans you build are stored in your own browser using local storage. They are not sent to us, there is no account, and they do not sync between devices. Clearing your browser data removes them.
Location
The Nearby Essentials page can sort results by distance from you. That only happens after you press “Use my location”, and your coordinates are held in the page while you use it. They are not stored, not transmitted to us, and not included in any analytics.
Analytics and cookies
This site does not set advertising cookies and does not run a third-party tracking service. If that changes, this page will be updated before it does.
External links
Directions open in Google Maps or Apple Maps, and ticket links open on the venue’s own site. Those services have their own privacy policies and we have no control over them.
